Vostro 1500, E1705, Inspiron 6400:Fix NMI Memory Parity Error

A Dell Inspiron E1705 was reported to get error message ¡°NMI: Parity Check/Memory Parity Error ¨C System Crash¡± on the E1705 screen. This was justified by an owner of Dell Inspiron 6400 who got the same error message. Further, he described the symptoms of the error as: The appearance of random incidents of the BSOD (System halted)
- The screen was blank. The laptop was found working, but the screen didn¡¯t come at all.
Other than by the both laptop, the error was also experienced by a Dell Vostro 1500 and Dell Inspiron 6400. Theories then came up trying to define the problem. Among several causes, two were suspected to be the most possible ones. They were the video card and the HDD. Should the problem really lie on the video card, the solution could include:
- Simply disabling the video card.
- Replacing the existing video card with a new one.
- Updating to the latest driver.
As for the HDD, the problem might be caused by bad sectors. If this was true, the only way to solve the problem was changing the HDD. It would need a thorough check and examination on the system before an action was finally taken.

Dell Dimension 9100: Fix BlueScreen When Installing XP

Just bought Dell Dimension 9100 ones get this laptop comes with no operating system installed. To make it works then he’s try to install Windows XP Pro retail version on it. During install he’s getting the error message which commonly appears before copying any files to the hard disk. That error said:

A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to protect your system.

STOP : 0×0000007E (0xC0000005, 0xF786B0BF, 0xF7CB7208, 0xF7CB6F08)
pci.sys – Address F786B0BF base at F7864000, DateStamp 3b7d855c

When using ‘Hard Drive Diagnostics’ looks like the hard drive cannot be found:

Drive 0: WDC WD……………. – PASS
Drive 1: No Device
Drive 2: No Device
Drive 3: No Device
Drive 4: TSSTcorpDVD-ROM TS-H352C – Diagnostics not supported
Drive 5: SONY CD-RW CRX217E – Diagnostics not supported

Seems like the problem of failed installation XP in Dell Dimension 9100 then showed an error message like above is happened because of incorrectly reformat Dell machine before install the XP OS. Here you require using a Windows XP disk with SP 2 for it.

About the hard drive cannot be found like shown at ‘Hard Drive Diagnostics’ you can try this solution:

Reboot the computer
Press F2 to enter setup
Select drives and make sure “Drive 0: SATA-0″ drive is set to “ON”
Go to “SATA Operation”
Change the setting to “Combination” which it probably set to “RAID
Autodetect / AHCI”

Finally, make sure the boot sequence in BIOS is set to CD ROM before hard drive. Now you should have no problems in installing XP on your machine with Windows XP SP2 disk.
